Aziz Raza

Aziz Raza grew up in orphanages and had spent some years in an american camp (IRO) in
Mietraching, near Bad-Aibling, Upper Bavaria.
He wish to become a singer and the well known german opera singer Peter Anders recognized
this young man´s singing talent, but he was forced to visit a special school for
carpenters.
His father was a indian ingenieur, but his greatuncle was a german artist: Hermann Urban.
Aziz Raza never got to meet Hermann Urban personally, however, of what he left behind had
an enormous influence on his artistic talents still waiting to be discovered.
1964 he started during the nights to get involved with his greatuncles painting technique
and developed some of his own art, all recorded and released in a book. He devoted part of
his time intensively to the research of all kind of painting techniques and he
experimented with a tremendous range of colors and different medias. His method
cannot be compared to that of Urbans as some art critics would like to point out.
Aziz Razas painting technique is modern and revolutionary, a new generation and his
passion recreated a totally new style in encaustic.
1972 Aziz Raza gave up his profession as a carpenter in order to spent all his time
to paint and also got more involved in the development of his technical research work.
